Karen P. Conway is counsel in Bershtein, Volpe & McKeon’s Health Law Group, where she represents a variety of health care providers, including hospitals, IPAs, physicians, physician groups, ambulatory surgical centers and other health care entities. Ms. Conway provides legal counsel in all areas of health law, including ambulatory surgery center physician/hospital joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions of health care entities, physician-owned ASC formation and admissions and other complex transactional matters; licensure and certification; regulatory compliance, including Stark and anti-kickback; administrative hearings; physician recruitment; risk management; advice and negotiation on the acquisition of electronic medical records systems and services; and third-party payor, employment and service contract negotiation. Prior to her legal career, Ms. Conway had extensive experience in the medical field, where she worked in the areas of radiology, medical office administration, and urgent care. She has practiced health law exclusively for the past 18 years. Ms. Conway received her J.D. from Western New England College School of Law and her B.A. from Smith College where she was an Ada Comstock Scholar. She is a member and past chair of the American Lung Association in Connecticut, a member of the American and Connecticut Health Lawyers Associations and a member of the Connecticut Bar Association. Ms. Conway is admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut.
